USAID LEAF strengthens 24 gender champions’ leadership to address gender issues in forestry and climate change in six countries in the Asia-Pacific. The champions have learned gender analysis tools and negotiation and training skills through the regional leadership trainings and mentorship. Gender champions have participated in a wide range of activities on gender and the environment. Some activities have included airing radio shows on environmental issues in Malaysia; establishing a gender team within the DOF in Laos; extending synergy and support with other key partners as OXFAM in Vietnam; tapping potential funding channels for implementing gender projects in Cambodia; and initiating capacity building of key REDD+ implementing organizations such as the Office of Climate Change and Development (OCCD) in Papua New Guinea.
This 3-day Evaluation and Lessons Learned workshop will be an evaluation and lessons learned workshop where the impacts of the Leadership Initiative will be evaluated and documented. The workshop will be conducted with gender champions and their individual stories of change will be captured through reflective journals, peer discussions and participatory discussions.
