Launch of Lam Dong Provincial REDD+ Action Plan (PRAP) by the Lam Dong People's Provincial Committee

The PRAP is one of the first of its kind in Vietnam and Southeast Asia, and is the result of a three-year collaborative process with the United States Agency for International Development Lowering Emissions in Asia’s Forests (USAID LEAF) program and additional partners, including NGOs, forest owners, private companies and related international organizations and universities.

The Department of Agriculture and Rural Development will take the lead in implementing the plan, in cooperation with other departments and authorities, including the city, district, and commune People’s Committees, Department of Natural Resources and Environment, the Department of Planning and Investment, Department of Finance and Department of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs. REDD+ (Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and Forest Degradation) is an emerging mechanism to incentivize improved forest management and reduced GHG emissions.
