The PRAP for Lam Dong incorporated various guidance and findings from technical reports, including a gender-analysis led by USAID LEAF in collaboration with UN-REDD that provided specific entry points to strengthen gender equality and women’s empowerment into the Lam Dong PRAP. The PRAP was approved on 21 January 2015.
As a next step towards strengthening Lam Dong DARD and related institutions in Vietnam, USAID LEAF will organize two trainings:
- The first training, Gender-Integrated Safeguards Analysis in Climate Change, is targeted for extension staffs and practitioners.
- The second training, Strategic Leadership for Gender-Integrated Safeguards in Climate Change, is targeted for leaders and decision makers.
These trainings provide spaces for decision-makers and practitioners directly involved in climate change and REDD+ activities, including PRAP implementation to better understand the relevance of gender issues in the context of climate change and safeguards and implement those in practice.
These trainings add to the continued efforts of USAID LEAF to support gender champions and strengthen key institutions in Vietnam. USAID LEAF has been supporting stakeholders in Lam Dong and Nghe An through gender-integrated planning training and the USAID-LEAF Asia-Pacific Regional Initiative on Gender, Climate Change and REDD+.
