Participatory Land Use Planning Encourages Sustainable Land Management in Houaphan

10 June 2015

USAID LEAF is supporting villages in Lao PDR to make more sustainable use of their land, with the goal of reducing local deforestation and forest degradation. In partnership with the Lao Department of Forestry and the Provincial and District Agriculture and Forestry Offices, USAID LEAF has been introducing participatory land use planning (PLUP) to local communities in Laos. PLUP engages villages in activities to reduce deforestation and forest degradation rates and help USAID LEAF meet its goal of reducing greenhouse gas emissions from the country’s forestry-land use sector.
